baby steps

So I took a few pictures this morning.
Technically I've been taking pictures almost every day for the past six months, but today was the first day I felt ready to come back to this space. That was a looooong, unexpected, yet much-needed blog break. I literally have 25 posts drafted that are all half-written. Posts that were interrupted mid-sentence by a baby waking up early from a nap, the laundry buzzer so generously letting me know that the poopy diapers are done pre-washing or by the three year old lab so kindly reminding me that HE'S A THREE YEAR OLD LAB and needs some gosh darn attention too.

SO. I'm giving up on the idea of truly "writing" for now. I have so much to write. So much to share. The good, the bad and the ugly (the ugly includes my pixie haircut that is now over six months old, so it's really not even a pixie anymore ... a mullet maybe?). I still want to share my birth story, I want to talk about my love for cloth diapering and homemade baby food (the one thing I've found easy enough for me to actually "cook") and tell you all about this crazy new job of mine as stay-at-home-allllll-day-every-day-mama. :) I want to talk about how rewarding, yet tough, breastfeeding has been for us but how we continue to stick with it day after day for Porter's well-being. Okay, okay. So really I'm just too cheap to buy formula. ;) And I want to share our experiences with colic, rsv, food allergies/intolerance, baby chiropractors, eczema/dermatitis/rashes, etc. There is no doubt Porter Gray is related to the eight dollar dog.

However, if I haven't found the time to finish one post in six months ... I might want to figure something else out here. And I definitely don't want to just quit blogging forever. Because that would be absolutely heartbreaking for all of you, right? {Nod your heads and smile}

So for now it'll probably be a whole bunch of pictures. And hopefully a few words.
Baby steps.

P.S. To all of you who took the time to write and check on us, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Those emails/tweets/comments meant a whole lot.

    1. Also, colic?! No wonder you haven't been blogging!! That stuff is no fun. We dealt with colic and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever dealt with. Digestive issues I'm guessing? Poor Porter.

  29. LADY!! You have no idea what seeing your [blog]face means to me today. Max isn't doing well, we're in the middle of some very drawn-out, expensive diagnostics and he's getting worse and worse in the meantime, and I'm not trying to make this about me but just wanted to say that knowing you, Porter, Dan, and Sherman are all doing well is such a lift!! I've missed you around the blogland, and even worried now and then that something happened. So HELLO!!! And yay for that adorable little smiley face boy!! AND SHERMAN!

  33. I was wondering where you were...but didn't feel it was my space to pry. As a SAHM to two now, I can relate to how hard the adjustment to parenthood can be. Our first child was really tough for us, and honestly I'm surprised we even agreed to another! Take your time and know that you are doing the best that you can at this stage, because every stage is different and it does get a little bit easier as you go! My blog has been more pictures and less words too, but I'm starting to get back into it little by little and you will too. Besides, who doesn't love to look at pictures - especially of adorable babies and cute puppies!! Glad to hear that everything is okay and look forward to hearing from you again!
