So I'm not going to tell you what my New Year's Resolutions are. Because I don't have any. Not a one. And I never have. Oh wait. That's a lie. (Resolution 1: Stop lying). When Dan and I first started dating (almost nine years ago) he talked me in to coming up with some resolutions. We even made a cute little spreadsheet of our resolutions and I think Dan followed through with 3 out of 10.
And I made it through about a half of one.
So I don't do resolutions. I know. I'm like the Scrooge of New Years.
But I do know of a few things that I would like to see happen in 2013. A couple of them I'm keeping to my little ole' self. Because I think sometimes that's important. And the others are pretty boring. Yay! Honestly, my central goal for 2013 is just to keep it simple. Inside and out. Simple is where it's at. Less = More. I continue to be amazed at how much I believe this to be true as I grow older.
Less stuff. Less clutter. Less worrying. Less stress. Less = More.
More love. More giving. More beauty. More happiness.
I'm getting rid of stuff I don't need; I'm not buying more stuff that I don't need.
I'll be donating more. Donating stuff. Money. Time. Energy. Whatever I can.
Donating to those in need.
So, that's it for now. Just some simple stuff. Literally. And apparently I'm starting with this blog post. I know I'm supposed to post a dozen pictures of me in a sequin dress standing by my handsome husband with some bubbly in our hands.
Dan and I sat at home last night with Sherman.
And ate Papa Murphy's pizza and drank wine from a box.
Simple. And perfect.

Cheers to an awesome 2013!
May we all be blessed beyond belief. :)

I live by the motto Less is more. I love simple! I don't necessarily make new years resolutions either, but I will continue to live by that motto, and live more in the moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to simplify things this year too. It's so true, less is more. I love your ending quite :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! (And I just wrote that same thing-- simple and less is more! Yikes! Your old English teacher and you are kindred spirits!)
ReplyDeleteok - i don't think it gets any better than boxed wine and pizza on new years. cheers to you lady.

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Tiff!!
ReplyDeleteLove that quote! I don't typically keep up with resolutions either.. your goal of keeping it simple is best, though! Maybe you'll serve as a reminder to me to keep it simple, too.

ReplyDeleteI truly couldn't agree with this post more!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm aiming for a simpler life myself :)
You are so adorable! Love your blog!!
ReplyDeletewe don't really do the whole resolution thing... it's like they were meant to be broken. ;) happy new year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect NYE to me! I agree with you on the resolutions thing... its almost like when you broadcast your resolutions to everyone, that is when they go by the wayside.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I also don't make resolutions. I'm not exactly the best at the whole follow through. I like your goal though. Less is definitely more!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fantabulous new year! I hope Sherman finds a million dollars and you share it with me! I send you big hugs!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you, Dan and Sherm dog!! Love that pooch so very much!
ReplyDeleteOur New Year's Eve celebrations are always just like yours....low key and amazing!

Ralph Waldo Emerson is quite possibly my favorite. Next to you. Next to you. Next to you.
ReplyDeleteI loved you in 2012 & I'll love you even more in 2013. you just matter to me my dear friend.
You can donate to me, anytime. just so you know. just to make this minor paragraph less sentimental.
Looks Great!!! Happy new year.

I adore you :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! May 2013 be simple but beautiful!
get outta my head lady - my only resolution is to keep it simple too! I am starting with trowing out/donating 100 things in January... feels pretty awesome so far!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year pretty lady!

I wish the snow would look like that here in Texas. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, friend!
Ohhhh......love that Emerson quote. And simplicity is where it is at! Less IS more!

Gah. I miss you already!! I know you're busy at work, but tell them to ease up on you -- we need your blog daily! ;)
ReplyDeletedonating more is a GREAT goal... we should all do this!
ReplyDeleteand i try to keep my goals/resolutions simple and throughout the year... not just in january- that way i have a little better luck at keeping them!
Okay, I think you're working too hard! You've not blogged. Sherman needs to find that million dollars Dusty was talking about so that you won't have to work. As frugal as you are you could make it last! Right?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Annabelle. Quit your job and blog!!!! We need you!!! I keep checking for a new post. :) Honestly though, hope you're not working too hard. Thinking about ya!
ReplyDeleteHappy New to you! I love your resolution...it is the best one I have read by far xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.

I kind of hate New Years resolutions. Actually, what I wrote on my blog was that for me, the word "resolutions" itself conjures up visions of lofty goals that get abandoned mid-January. So I try to stick with simple improvements I want to adopt, regardless of the time of year. (But I did just compile a big list of them since everyone everywhere seems to be talking about them...)
ReplyDeleteLove your snapshots of 2013.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year...
Finally catching up on the ok blog reading and I just wanted to stop by and say I love your blog your sense of humor etc. my new year plan is also to try and simplify, I just think it's what my life needs right now!!
ReplyDeleteHey girly!! I hope everything is okay with you!! I've been missing your blog in my daily rotation!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and hope all is well with you, the hubby, and of course the handsome, trash collecting fur baby!
Miss you girly.
